Leicester vs Aston Villa – Pre-game Assessment

Finally, our Villans find themselves playing against a team with one eye elsewhere.  Leicester is in the semifinal of a Europa League against Roma, a first time at that lofty level.

With the first leg coming up next Thursday, Brendan Rogers will be tempted to rest some of his key players such as Jonny Evans.  Regardless of any changes, this will still be a strong Foxes team playing confidently in front of their own crowd.

Gerrard, looking at our Villans team in 15th place and on a four-goal losing skid, will have to put out his best eleven in the hope of avoiding losing the dreaded fifth (the mark at which Dean Smith was shown the door).  Our highly touted manager thought he was putting out his finest eleven last Saturday only for Konsa to gift Spurs the first goal.  Consequently, I see Chambers getting a start alongside Mings and Ashley Young having to replace Lucas Digne due to the latter’s shoulder injury.

Even with that, it is hard to see this low-confidence Villa team coming away with more than a point.

Prediction:  Leicester 1, AVFC 1

Likely Starting xi:

Leicester: Schmeichel; Justin, Amartey, Söyüncü, Thomas; Maddison, Mendy, Tielesman, Dewsbury-Hall, Albrighton, Daka

Aston Villa (4, 3, 3): Martinez, Cash, Chambers, Mings, Digne, McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey, Ings, Watkins, Coutinho
