Burnley vs Aston Villa – Pre-game Assessment

With the exception of visiting the grounds of the Premier League’s elite teams, Turf Moor might be the most daunting venue for a Villa team still in a reformative mode.  Burnley’s recent form of three wins and one tie is no fluke.  They have played gritty determined soccer and not got rattled when they found themselves losing.

Such was the case last week when, at Watford, they carried a 1-0 deficit from the 8th to the 83rd minute from an unlucky ricochet off Tarkowski and still found a way to win and greatly improved their chances to avoid relegation.

It was fullback Charlie Taylor’s ability to dribble clear down the left touchline and fashion a perfect cross to the far post for Jack Cork to race into and bury into the back of the net with his noggin.

With the adrenaline running they kept up the pressure and Brownhill passed the ball through multiple legs to complete the job and come from behind just three minutes later.

In other words, our Villans are going to have a tough fight to keep this Burnley team at bay.  I think we should be satisfied with a tie.
