Aston Villa vs Fulham – Pre-game Assessment

Sunday, Nov 12, 14:00 – Villa Park

After a first loss in quite a while last Sunday at Nottingham Forest, it sure is reassuring for our team to be back in front of home fans.  There are other pluses this time around.  First, just two days ago we succeeded in overcoming a 1-0 deficit against AZ Alkmaar, the Dutch team, in the Europa Conference League to prevail 2-1 with two second half goals.  That Ollie Watkins scored a perfect poacher’s goal in the 81st minute made it even more reassuring.

That sets us up to contain a very good Fulham side this Sunday knowing how toothless their offense is (equal worst in the Premier League with only 9 goals this season).  It is also a side against whom we have done very well in recent years.  All signs suggest that we should extend our home winning streak.

The only blemish in our positive scenario is the injury to Diego Carlos.  That the details are not yet available, and that Carlos scored the first of our goals against AZ Alkmaar makes his loss more poignant.

That will all be forgotten with a Villa win against Fulham following Spurs’ Friday loss at Wolves in injury time.  What better way to enjoy the international break?  That our Villans will be preparing for a visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium right after the break won’t hurt a bit.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.  It’s Fulham first.

Result Prediction:

I think our Villans will continue their winning streak.  Prediction:  Aston Villa 3, Fulham 1.

Predicted Villa Line-Up:

Aston Villa: Martínez, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne, Luiz, McGinn, Zaniolo, Kamara, Diaby, Watkins

Subs: Olsen, Traore, Duran, Dendoncker, Chambers, Bailey
